ISRO plans to land astronauts on the moon in the near future. The astronauts will need vehicles such as cars to drive across the moon’s surface called ROVERS. This is required in order to transport provisions and discover the lunar surface like we use our cars on Earth to go from one place to another. Hence, our students have tried to design a rubber band powered rover where they used the rubber band as their propulsion system to move the rover. By doing so students have learnt the engineering design process. They have figured out how to use rubber bands to convert potential energy to kinetic energy to spin the wheels and improved their design based on testing results.
